Freedom is Slavery
MFA - Studio II
This poster is a response to another classmate's work. The classmate's book I was assigned was about surveillance in social media. This booklet reminded me of surveillance and the concept of double speak in George Orwell's 1984. I turned the response I wrote into binary and used this as the main image of my poster with the text around it. My response is at the bottom of the poster and reads:
"Are we handing our identities over, piece-by-piece, to greedy, information-hungry data collectors? And are we slowly being stripped of the autonomy to chose our interests because algorithms and money are deciding what to show us when? Constant surveillance used to be for security, and now it's
for watching our every move. The promised Peace from handing over our identities is War on our individualism. Our false Freedom provided by unlimited products is Slavery to those greedy for money. Ignorance is believing in the Strength and truth of their numbers."
